The Starting Point

“The starting point of discovering who you are, your gifts, your talents, your dreams, is being comfortable with yourself. Spend time alone. Write in a journal. Take long walks in the woods.”
–Robin S. Sharma

Riverside Park, Milwaukee, Wisconsin on an overcast, damp, cool, December afternoon. The day was pretty drab and dreary, but the path and the way the trees framed the trail set a mood I wanted to capture and enhance.  I knew as I took the shot that I wanted to create an old film lithography-style darkroom processed look.   Lots of color and level adjustments, added clarity, and several textures.  I used Nik Color Efex and Silver Efex, along with Topaz Clarity and Texture Effects.

Emotion. Mood. Feelings. This is what I capture through my photographs. Whether it is landscapes, architectural elements, still life, or macros - it is a very personal journey as my own fears, triumphs, beliefs, and shortcomings are exposed with each photo. In the end, it is all about telling compelling stories.
