“Rubber Ducky, you’re the one,
You make bath time lots of fun,
Rubber Ducky, I’m awfully fond of you;”
–Ernie from Sesame Street

For today,  I wanted to create an image with colors associated with spring and make something fun and whimsical.   With the duck as the subject, I was inspired both by comic books and the Marilyn Monroe prints by Andy Warhol.   Why shouldn’t you get your ideas (Steal Like an Artist) from other artists and mediums?!

I shot two images of the duck – front and profile – on my copy stand.  The lights were set at about at 45 degrees on either side and I used a piece of white foam core held above the camera to add some fill light.  In Photoshop, I duplicated each image once, placed each duck on a different color background, added the dots and the comic book frame, and created the square grid.

See, not all of my images are dark and moody!  😉  This is day 172 of my 365 photo a day project.

Emotion. Mood. Feelings. This is what I capture through my photographs. Whether it is landscapes, architectural elements, still life, or macros - it is a very personal journey as my own fears, triumphs, beliefs, and shortcomings are exposed with each photo. In the end, it is all about telling compelling stories.
