An architectural EKG on the East Side of Milwaukee, Wisconsin. I walk past this building on the way to the library from my home at least once a week. Yet in all that time, I don’t think I’ve ever noticed the angles of the roofline.
“The near stillness recalls what is forgotten, extinct angels.”
“The past is an old armchair in the attic, the present an ominous ticking sound, and the future is anybody’s guess.”
Of the thousands of CDs, vinyl records, cassettes (yes, cassettes), and digital files we have on/in shelves, boxes, cases, sleeves and hard drives, I believe perhaps Beethoven could have chosen a more complimentary shelf on which to sit.
I often wonder what stories these old abandoned homes could tell.
