Curved Lines 1

Curved Lines 1

Curved lines in the architecture of the Milwaukee Art Museum in Milwaukee, Wisconsin.  The artwork in the museum is breathtaking, but the building itself is a work of art.  I could spend hours walking around the interior and exterior of the structure and not even look at what is hanging on the walls.  This building is…… Continue reading Curved Lines 1

What the…?!

Frost

"It is the life of the crystal, the architect of the flake, the fire of the frost, the soul of the sunbeam. This crisp winter air is full of it." --John Burroughs Frosty ice crystals form on my office window on a very cold January winter morning in Milwaukee. They are beautiful for sure, but it has to be quite frigid for these to grow. Plus, your windows need to be a bit drafty. Oh well, the things we sacrifice for our art. Clash of Seasons

Clash of Seasons

“Beauty is the only thing that time cannot harm. Philosophies fall away like sand, creeds follow one another, but what is beautiful is a joy for all seasons, a possession for all eternity.” –Oscar Wilde We had our first real snowfall of the season a few days ago.  After the storm passed, I took a…… Continue reading Clash of Seasons

Flux Number 1

Flux Number 1

“Things of this world are in so constant a flux, that nothing remains long in the same state.” –John Locke I love playing around with different ideas, techniques, and mediums to create art.  While photography is my main focus (pun intended!),  I also work with fractals (see here, here, and here) and 3D (here, here,…… Continue reading Flux Number 1

Brainstorm

Brainstorm

It’s brainstorm time for new photo ideas and directions.  After a full year of my photo a day project, I took a bit of time away from shooting.  However, that does not mean I wasn’t creating.  Or at least, trying to be creative.   Sometimes, when the photographic creative juices are not flowing, I turn…… Continue reading Brainstorm

A Single Yellow Maple Leaf

A Single Yellow Maple Leaf

A single yellow Maple leaf.  There are hundreds, if not thousands of them outside my window.   It seems like almost all of them are on the ground.  Now, Autumn color is still all around,  you just have to look a little lower for it.  But that’s ok.  Whether in the air or on the…… Continue reading A Single Yellow Maple Leaf

The Colors of Fall

The Colors of Fall

The colors of fall are beginning to fade and soon enough the air will chill and the snow will fall.  But that also means that the holiday season is upon us.  We will spend time with family and friends, give thanks, feast, trim trees, light candles, celebrate miracles and be of good cheer.   We…… Continue reading The Colors of Fall

Schoolhouse 1895

Schoolhouse 1895

Whenever I go camping, I try to take backroads to and from the campgrounds.  You never know what hidden gems you may find.   This old abandoned schoolhouse is a prime example.  Situated in Sauk County, Wisconsin, this one room school stands overgrown on a quiet stretch of rural road.  While it is silent now,…… Continue reading Schoolhouse 1895

Dry Leaf on Wood

Dry Leaf on Wood

A dry leaf sits on a park bench in Whitefish Bay, Wisconsin.  The colors are just about past peak now around here, but the beauty of Autumn is still all around.   Soon enough, the trick or treaters will be at our door, daylight savings time will end, and Jack Frost will nip at our noises.…… Continue reading Dry Leaf on Wood
